Dear body
Dear body,
As I was finishing up a very intense strength class today I couldn’t help but feel deep gratitude towards you.
Thank you so much for holding me in this life, in this place in this plane.
Thank you for keep pushing even when I want to give up.
Thank you for believing in yourself even when I didn’t believe in you.
Thank you for giving me all the signs of all the things that are out of balance, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Thank you for each step that we have taken together.
Thank you for all the falls as well. You have always helped me to stand up again, every time, no exception.
Thank you for the sick days, I needed to rebalance and rest.
Thank you for the stretch marks, you were adapting to my changing self.
Thank you for every scar, you healed what was broken.
Thank you for the extra weight when I was younger, I needed that protection, I needed to feel safe and you knew that.
Thank you for being willing to learn new things even when you are scared.
Thank you for doing all the things that I don’t even notice at times, like breathing.
Thank you for giving me fuel to move, work, have fun, and live.
I am so grateful for all the effort, and all the support that you give me every single day, even on days when you feel very tired.
I'm sorry for all the times that I said bad things about you, all the times that I looked in the mirror and talked hurting words.
I'm sorry for not giving you all the love that you needed.
I'm sorry for punishing you so hard, so many times.
I'm sorry for believing things that other people said about you.
I'm sorry for letting other people touch you when you didn’t want to.
I'm sorry for believing you were not worthy of love and appreciation.
I'm sorry for thinking you were not special and unique.
I'm sorry for not honoring you so many times, I didn’t know how sacred you are.
I promise I will take care of you now more than ever.
I promise to keep nurturing you with the best quality food I can get.
I promise to give you rest when you need it.
I promise to stop being so hard on yourself.
I promise to keep you active so we can grow older together.
I promise to cherish you every day.
I promise to talk nice, beautiful things about you.
I promise to hug you when you need to.
I promise to keep getting better for both of us.
I promise to honor you, your needs, and your desires.
I promise to listen to you more, you are wise.
You are the most beautiful, amazing, unique body.
Thank you for sustaining me, for protecting me.
You are my home, you are my safe space.
I love you.
